Shops in unlikely places

Here at the Well we are always on the hunt for great, innovative and unique retail operators…so you can imagine our surprise when we came across this gem! We arrived at GPT’s Chirnside Park Shopping Centre to conduct a focus group and upon parking we discovered Gertie’s Op Shop ..not something you would usually expect in the car park of a suburban shopping centre. Quite refreshing to see small, local and independently run retail in unlikely places.

Another great example I’ve come across was Cup of Truth, a teeny tiny coffee shop tucked in the Degraves St tunnel exit from Flinders St Station. I remember a few years ago when Village Well’s offices were on Flinders Lane, walking through this exit everyday, I noticed that this space was just boarded up and being used as storage. It now has people queuing up every morning for a ‘cup of truth’ (the coffee was pretty good I must say, but Heinz may beg to differ).
