Cool things we stumbled upon this month at the Well…
by Sam Choudhury on May 17, 2012
On a trip up to the Mt Dandenong ranges, we stopped in Sassafras to make a visit to famous Miss Marples Tea Rooms. Whilst waiting for our table we stumbled upon this little arcade off the mainstreet where a big bonfire was blazing, children were toasting marshmallows, live music and jazz was playing and a magician was playing tricks. Just lovely.
Yummy korean restaurant Seoul Soul on Victoria St, with the kitchen actually spilling into the footpath! You can watch the chefs prepare the food in front of your eyes…great food theatre.
Loved the children’s entertainment and my favourite local, Prahran Market. The programming for families and children here is something to admire and learn from..every weekend they have face painting, a mobile library, play equipment, live poetry and jazz for the adults. Not to mention an amazing Eritrean vegetarian cafe called Greenbean, its worth spending your Saturday here.
Live painting and literature readings for children and adults at the Prahran Market, such a treat.
A great laneway installation off Martin Place in Sydney, with birdcages and sounds of birds chirping in the lane itself.
Interesting lost poster…anyone lost a pigeon??
Some beautiful yarn bombing that made me smile at Yarraville Station on a cold morning on my way to get the train to work…
Village Well is Australia’s leading creative Placemaking consultancy.
"But what is Placemaking?" we hear you ask. Simply put, Placemaking is the art of creating great places. By ‘places’ we mean everywhere – from the back of someone’s unloved laneway to large-scale greenfield communities. If there is a place that needs some love and renewal we can help you. And we are really passionate about it.
